Meet the Board- President Melissa Woodruff
To help our members get to know their board better, each month we will feature a Q&A with a board member.
If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
Paris, France! I fell in love with the city on my first visit and have been fortunate enough to go back a couple of times. I have my apartment picked out, overlooking the Eiffel Tower with a window box of flowers.
What is your favorite family vacation?
One I go on alone (sorry Fam!) to the beach, no distractions, no cell phones/technology, no schedules.
What is your favorite thing about your career?
Meeting so many people from various backgrounds, cultures and personalities. Having had worked in hotels, a CVB and as a planner, I’ve met lots of great, smart people!
What is your proudest accomplishment?
Getting my CMP. Up next: CGMP!
What makes you laugh the most?
What was the last movie you went to? What did you think?
The last movie I went to was “Isn’t it Romantic” with Rebel Wilson. It was completely predictable, but I go to the movies to unclog my mind for a couple of hours. I thought it was funny. I enjoyed it!
What did you want to be when you were small?
An astronaut! I saw the movie Space Camp and thought that was what I wanted to be when I grew up.
What is your favorite game or sport to watch and play?
Hockey to watch, cornhole to play!
What would you sing at Karaoke night?
Total Eclipse of the Heart, Bonnie Tyler
What two radio stations do you listen to in the car the most?
I bounce between Country (98.7) and 97.1 (80s/90s and today – but 24/7 Christmas music in November/December!)
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Tacos!! And guacamole.
Have you ever had a nickname? What is it?
Melvin. Still to this day some close friends call me Melvin.
